Spent the first part of the morning packing and then Michael made a video of me giving a valedictory address to the students in China for this year’s lectures. Monti has very kindly agreed to make a DVD for me which I hope to have played before  this year’s lectures begin.

The Test match resumed at Trent Bridge  and Pakistan’s tail wagged well enough for them to knock up 182,   England started shakily losing 2 quick wickets,  captain Strauss for a duck  and Cook for12 but nevertheless as I close down for the night in order to finish my packing for Sweden, England look set for a comfortable win.

As I shall not be taking my laptop with me there will be no more entries until my return on 14 August when I hope to be able to give a reasonable account of my Swedish holiday.
